Battle on Ice planet Hoth
« on: 25 August 2012, 01:54:54 PM »
I just thought I would share some pics of an old project of mine that is been given new life.
This is in 10mm so we are pretty small and I will use FUBAR Star wars rules
The board is 3' x 4' Still a lot of work to do mainly terrain and paint.

Just took some after some quick dry brushing this morning.

Well try to finish more terrain. The trench was hard to make and still needs detailing.
It is made from sheets of styrene that I molded with a heat gun and some wood cut to form it.
The hanger and the Power generator were  from the kits but the snow walls are plaster on styrafoam.
I plan on doing more to the board itself as it is just a white primer coat on hardboard.
Also more terrain in the middle to be completed.
As you can see in the hanger not much is finished paint wise so a lot to be done yet.
But I am at least ready to play some.

Absolutely cool!

A bit of paint or a wash on the rebel spaceships (especially the Falcon) would be much appreciated, too  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

See the pics posted I have 3 sets of the Battle on the ice planet Hoth and 1 set of the Rebel base.

I will do that next.

The kits come with 1 ATST so I have 3 but they are small and not very detailed so I am substituting them with the walkers you see in the previos pics. They are Mico-machines and work quite well with a lot more detail.
The Shuttles are also Micro Machines and will be used only to land Lord Vader and his 501st storm troopers after the generator is destroyed.
Three X & Y wing fighters come with the Rebel base and 1 X-wing comes with the Battle on ice planet Hoth so I have 6 all together.

Yes the speeders all come with both kits. You get 3 in Battle on Ice planet Hoth and 4 in the rebel base so I have 13 all together.
You could substitute the Micro machine snowspeeders as they are slightly larger then these and would not go well together.
I plan on only using 9 (Groups of 3) to attack The Empire leaving 4 in the Hanger. The fighters will only be used for evacuation however.

As I promised the Falcon. I am debating on adding a Badab black wash, what do you think?

That wash has really brought the Falcon to life!
 :-*

I would suggest a watered down black wash on some areas of the the hull, just to create a little variation.

I wish that I had never seen this now.
I want to do this myself!
