Mordheim Campaign Questions
« on: August 25, 2012, 06:46:23 PM »
I have played the first two games and will post the AAR soon, but I have some qs first:

1. Henchmen and Hired Swords seem to only gain I exp per game regardless of kills, is that right?

2. If a figure is out of action but survives do they get an exp, I guess yes based on the language but could be wrong..

3. Can the Elf Ranger use his special ability if he is OOA but survives, I guess not...

Thanks

Technically, the Elf Ranger's Seeker skill would still kick in even if he was taken out of action, as the skill is worded.  We don't play it that way, though.

one clarifiction though, henchmen can possibly gain exp via other means during a mission, I belive the  wyrdstone hunt gives a henchman group an EXP is they have a shard, also the treasure chest one I think does too (from memory).

Yes that was the conclusion I came to (though for the first one I used it  ;))

Just to check only heroes can use rare items?

Yes and no, only heroes can use equipment, but if a henchman can use a rare item (i.e. if they have the option in thier weapons list) then they can.

An excample of this is Gromril or Ithmar armour, both of these count as heavy armour, therefore any model that can use heavy armour can use it (even henchmen), though they cannot buy it themselves.

Huntung arrows are counted as "equipment" and therefore not allowed to be used by henchmen.

Thinkning it over a bit more, I think toughend leathers, ithmar and gromril armour might be the ONLY things that henchmen can possibly use, everything else either requires a training skill to use or is equipment....

There are a few other exceptions for specific warbands.  The old GW Shadow Elves, if I remember correctly, allowed henchmen to take elf bows - normally rare items of equipment.

Yes I see, like Averland Marksmen....

Not really exceptions, the rule is if a model can purchase it on initial recruitment then they can use it. I believe shadow elves can purchase elf bows on recruitment. I have no idea about Averlanders though.

So as far as i'm aware, it's just gromril and ithmar, you just treat them in every respect as if they were heavy armour from a purchase and "who can use" point of view (the same for toughend leathers but treated as light armour).

Presumably this would be the same for gromril and ithmar weapons too, but not sure as we never purchased any.

My suggestion for what it's worth: join Tom's Boring Mordheim Forum if only until your questions are answered. The Rules & Games Play Section is quite a lively & informative area. Here's a link:

I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx
