Brink of Battle newcomer

I've decided that when I play skirmish, I'll be using Brink of Battle and I learned from Robert Faust Saturday that this is where most of the folks who play the game post.

Sadly, one of the very first things I'll have to do is make purchases - after I decide which year I want to focus on first. My wallet is also whining at the thought.
