War of the Rings project in plastic
« on: 14 September 2012, 01:20:12 PM »
A different take?  For me altogether more  in what I think to be the Dark Ages spirit of the story..conversions, Conquest Normans, Gripping Beast and Wargames Factory, all on the one piece..Banners by David of NBA..these two printed out  a bit murky but I do like the effect. These are based for Impetus and represent two units of Gondorian cavalry

They look really good  :-*, I thought they would be good for Gondor myself and you have shown that to be true.  Are you going to do some foot soldiers?

These models look more like I pictured Rohirim. Still like them.  It is, in fact, a nice idea to find alternatives to the rather costly GW models. Let's not forget that Peter Jackson's design decisions are not the final word about Middle-Earth, as nice as his design is. There are enough instances, where I have rather different ideas than he had (wargs, Easterlings, Elvish weapons, Gondorian armor).

So, Quendil, nice choice and please post lots more pictures. I as a ME nerd love to look at them.

Rohirrm will have round shields..and some horse archers and  a more diverse colour scheme, and very different banners..there is actually little evidence in the books of there actually being any Gondorian cavalry,a part from Dol Amroth..which is in the planning stage

Ooops, sorry mate, no disrespect intended. I must have been in a hurry when I wrote a reply to this thread. Anyway - things do look interesting so please continue painting and posting!  ;)

Very nice! This is how I vision the LotR universe too, European dark ages. Very inspiring.

Are you building your orcs too, in a similar way, or would you use the GW ones?
