 Now I just wish I could get minis of some of these uniforms, as I want them for my "Meji Restoration" setting.

Yes that series is VERY good if you can find them. Too bad they don't have English translations. I have the two WWII books on Japanese uniforms and they are outstanding.

 There is English underneath the Japanese text.

Yes but only a few descriptions - the entire text is not translated sadly.
