ViDe - Sci Fi - Heavy Gear
« on: October 04, 2012, 04:13:07 PM »
Agis, Any word on how goes it with DP9 on the whole HG thing? I so want a playable set of HG rules.

However I don't think you could play a squad of Gears vs. a squad of Inf and have any chance if you are the Infantry(I think you said that on your way earlier Sci Fi post rules update). It would have to be at least 3:1 in my mind, or else, why use gears at all. Better have a lot of AGM wielding dudes.

I have hope that ViDe HG would be able to capture the cinematic, frenetic pace of HG combat, and not bog down into a really drawn out game. Here's hoping.

Well I have indeed drafted some HG stats.
A Jäger Gear would look like this:
Name: Jäger   Facing   Critical   Hit   Save   Special
Size:,W/2, G/2
Close Combat: W/2xD10, G/3xD6+3   F/S/R   12+   8+   5+   Multiple Movement System, Walker
Structure Points: 2
Move: W/Walker/4”, G/Wheeled/6”
Unit: Jäger (unit leader) with LAC (Fire Arc/F), one LRP (Fire Arc/F), one APGL (Fire Arc/F) and Anti-Tank Explosives
Options:
•   -
Weapon   U/T   Range   Damage   Feature
Anti-Tank Explosives   1   -   D10+2   Blast/2“, One-Shot, Save/-2
APGL   1   24   D6+1   Blast/3", Indirect, Save/-1, Suppression
Light Auto Cannon (LAC)   2   36”   2xD6+3   -
Light Rocket Pack (LRP)   2   24”   D10+2   Blast/2", Indirect

So you are right a squad of Gears is basically one army!
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

So is this a HG game that's much smaller scale?

Sorry if I'm butting in here, but it sounds interesting. Could I get more details on the project?

I have a PAK force, that I haven't used much lately, but if it's small model count, I could probably rope someone into playing.

Sorry - I do not understnd the question.   :( o_o What has the sclae to do with the above?

Right now it is not a real project. I am planning a generic SF rule set that would also allow you to field genric HG style walkers, no more.
But if enough interest is created for a dedicated HG version of ViDe, who knows...
It certainly creates a win win situation for DP9 and me.  8)

Well that is already settled via the Poll earlier this year.  ;)
Gear Krieg, SF.
Then back to WW II.

As far as Africa is concerned most lists are BTW already out, early mid war German and British, US coming this wekend for free.
Only French, Italians and some special units like SAS, LRDG are missing.

Agis I think he means, 1 squad of gears vs 1 squad of gears, instead of the multiple squad level of HG Blitz and all the others.

Its an interesting question. If you are playing 1 squad of Gears vs a bunch of infantry and a tank it is a whole different game (1 to 1 really).

But since ViDe is a multiple squad game, the gears would be a squad for each one. Just like a tank, which you said. But HG is a GEar vs Gear game. And if you had 3 squads of Gears a side, (15 tanks) I am not sure how that would go from a playability standpoint.

Well one squad of 5 Jäger Gears vs one squad of 5 Hunter Gears would work fine, also if you activate each Gear seperately.
During ViDe playtesting we tried alot around here.

You can create the same right now with the vehicle list from the ViDe rulebook.
Lighter tanks are already fielded in squads. The game of 15 tanks vs 15 tanks would work nicely.
