More from The League of Extraordinary Kriegspielers
« on: March 14, 2008, 05:03:44 PM »
Three more pics from our annual mega game (four days, no sleep, war movies when youre not playing and a black tie/fancy dress dinner at the end of it all), this time from 2007.

The figures are mostly mine, and almost all painted by the sainted Steve Dean. The terrain is by the legendary Gary Chalk. The buildings are a mix of Gary Chalk, me, and my awesomely talented mate Rodger "Smirnoff" Williams. Aeroplanes are by me, Cameron "Stauffenberg" Thomson. Zeppelin (to come) scratch built by the Dalai "Soapy" Martin, and so on and so forth. The Potemkin model is scratch built by some bloke in Falmouth. Admiral Chuggerchevsky (JD) another of our club, blew a sizeable chunk of his redundo cheque on this. It now resides in my wargames room as he was too scared to take it home. All photos, unless otherwise specified, are by Dr. Iain "Stalin" Blackwood O.B.E.

We have been on the go since 2003. Meeting mostly once a year, with a few side games. We produce a newspaper, 'The Kashgar Illustrated Sporting Pink'. There's about 18 of us in all, with a core of about 12. We've known each other for aeons, but only with the advent of the Copplestone Meister did this click and we gel.

How do I post rules on here by the way????

I think I hate you already. Such lovely toys to play with. I want some. :)

Lovely stuff. Nicely painted figures and ambitious landscapes. I like it.

Except for the doormat.

Sorry, but I've never got my head round this suspension of disbelief thing, where otherwise sensible, talented wargamers pretend that different coloured squares of doormat and carpet look like realistic crop fields. They really don't - they just look like.. er.. pieces of cut up doormat and carpet.

Sorry!

Apart from that - i am suitably envious.

"Whats your answer for fields?"

Teddy Bear Fur!

Look at what Eastwood Wargames Club (amongst others) have done here.

Also check out their Russian Civil War game - link on the above page.

Teddy Bear Fur!

How phenomenally callous!  How many Teddy Bears had to be killed to make that florescent green stuff?  ...guess I'll have to go to the nearest Teddy Bear store and see if there are some prekilled Teddy Bear carcasses that I can buy. It might be faster to cut out a piece of plastic bag, smear half a bottle of glue on it, and dump a bag of static grass over it.

Speaking of plastic bags, a friend of mine makes perfectly acceptable row crop fields out of bits of plastic bag with lines of PVA glue flocked, bending it around as it dries to keep it flexible afterwards, even after painting.  His flexible bits conform nicely to the sides of hills.

PS  I like the brown outdoor welcome mats, but agree most carpet is hard to ignore.  The brown mats sparked a comment the one time I was using them for a 15mm SYW game that there should be stands with just the heads and bayonets and flags showing for use in the high dry grainfields.  The comment was that, absurd as the idea was, everybody would actually be jealous if one of us actually made stands like that.

That's pretty fantastic. The terrain, AND the Teddy Bear fur.

Hi,

thank you for posting the pics.

That looks very nice. Iam also into doormats. They are a quick, easy and a cheap solution.

But using fur is a great idea. I saw it recently and it s just great.

For the rules !

Please post a link.

Cheers
