<snip>

I think Americans would have to be Treemen, it took them a long time to get involved in the fighting because they had to arrange an Entmoot and we all know how long they take!!! I dunno, just a bit of fun. Perhaps Wood Elves?

<snip>

 lol

Wood Golems?   :o  Slow to move?  Or maybe Mud Golems?   o_o

Wood Elves would work.   8)  More akin to the AD&D Wild Elves?   lol

Actually they would not be missed for most early to mid war based on actual battles/campaigns scenarios because... they weren't there (like you said.)  If it wasn't for unrestricted submarine warfare and Woodrow Wilson (oops, this enters the murky realms of American Politics, strike everything after "submarine warfare") I doubt we would have shown up for the party.

Apocryphal stories exist of Westerners/Southerners joining up thinking we were going to fight the "English" again.   ::)  How true those stories are is debatable I believe.

Glenn

Why limit ourselves to the "usual suspects"? Without getting into anthropomorphic animals or JRRT Redux what other options are there?  Leprechauns? Pixies/Sprites?  Gremlins?

Glenn

Even so mate, I look at it as fantasy, regardless of historical time period. For Flintloque, I run Vietnam themed games, using black powder and air balloons but With Orc Marines and Kinkon Delta River Goblins...

No reason to limit to the 'usual suspect' except for recognition. If it goes too weird, then it loses all the character. It's easy to associate with what we are used to. AKULA, who did the dwarves that Hasslefree have recently bought ran the game as a 'The Shire in the future' sort of thing, where Hobbiton was a trench-infested warzone in which the Goblins from the Misty Mountains had come to attack and allies from Erebor were streaming in. I really like the idea of JRRT Redux!!!  ;D

At the end of the day, this halfling is lovely and I would love to see more. I get very excited about this kind of project... :)

Excellent viewpoint!

Edit:  I come from the Historical (Hx) side of the house first (I blame OD&D (Fx) and Starguard (SF) for my heresies,) so I like to believe a decent fantasy rules set would (stripped of magic) play well as a set of historical rules for the historical era they reflect.

Glenn

I am a fan of the second pic although I think the New Zealand troops would make more appropriate halflings

Well done keep them coming

Took me a while to think about whY ANZACs would be Hobbits...

Where is the set of Hobbiton again?

Oh yes!

Very nice idea, might be a good way for me to squeeze Halflings into my Panzerfauste games where Orcs are already British.
