Although I'am not knowledgeable on Armour types so much aside from transition from mail, to full plate etc. However I must emphasise that although armour types may have been going out-to-date rapidly, this does not mean that you would not have seen armour vanish completely from the battlefield only 20 years after it was made.

Realistically if you were to consider economics and logistics (especially in the Medieval age) not everyone would have been wearing the newest kit; In fact poorer nobility, knights, soldiers (the majority) etc would still be wearing older kit, and its more than possible you would have seen older non-fashionable types of armour in use many, many decades after it had been abandonned by the wealthier warriors.

If it works people tend not to dump it because it is no longer fashionable, and if your in the back of beyond or even out on campaign you use what you have. The same rule applies for all human conflicts, even ones fought today.

Thus realistically you could get away with using armour types that are pretty old. But what you would probably not be able to get away with is say is applying outdated armour to a wealthy or influential noble, but its not like it matters overly much for wargaming!

For this period I mostly use Claymore Castings, Perry Miniatures and Front Rank (28mm). They do the job well.

I'm considering 10mm minis, so the differences will be harder to notice. I'm planning on using later 14th century figures for the rich nobles, with earlier 14th century and 13th century men for the lesser men at arms and the foot soldiers. Current ideas are the hundred years war in the late 14th century or John of Gaunt in Castile with some Portugese and Spanish troops along with English and French so i could use for both theatres.
