Old Orcs for new Kings of War army
« on: November 09, 2012, 09:57:02 AM »
Hi All
I am just about to get back into my Orcs for KoW , got tired of winning with Undead . Orcs provide more challenge. These were painted about 10-15 years ago for WHFB but never saw a table top  and predominatly are much older GW Orcs .

Apologies if the images are too large , i dont know how to change it
cheers Tom

:-* a great looking horde you have there!  Lots of classic citadel goodness hidden in those pictures.   Looks great on the table.

That is an impressive horde and no doubt about that. I like the old GW style.

VERY IMPRESSIVE! The Horde is BEAUTIFULLY painted (nice skin color)...keeping to a high standard of brushwork through out is perhaps more impressive than the numbers involved. VERY WELL DONE!

I spy some of Ruglud's boyz in there! Also love the Doom Divers, is there a not-Doom Diver unit in KoW or are you using them as catapults or cannon or something?

The dominant flesh colour is GW Bronzed Flesh although any similiar colour will have same effect . I first cover all flesh in GW Dark Flesh or Terracotta ( or similiar )  then i block paint in all the muscles in Bronzed Flesh , it almost looks cartoony once all the muscles are defined  then add white to BF to give the highlights to all the raised edges . Close up it looks rather blotchy but from 3 feet away it looks quite visual and once there are a few hundred of them it looks ok .
I should add once i complete all the flesh areas i go back and black in all the clothing and armour and stuff  that got splashed in flesh colours so i have a new base to work from. I tend to paint around 30 figures of same type at a time to keep it consistent then once its all done mix them all up in different units across the army.

cheers Tom
