Andym's Build: Pirate School (update 2/1)
« on: November 15, 2012, 11:02:34 AM »
My initial idea was to build a boathouse to add to my brothers cracking pirate board, but the problem being that I wouldn't of had any water effects in it. It would have just sat on top of the blue board we're using to represent the water, so I've had to come up with something different.

I'm going to be struggling for time to do this over the next couple of months but I plan to try my best to finish!! That being said I might have to veto the second of my new ideas for taking too much time to make!

Idea one is a pirate training school, complete with boating pond for single man galleons and a 'Walk the Plank' training frame as well. I may decide to combine the two main parts of this so that the 'Walk the Plank' part is at the edge of the boating pond......

Idea two is a pirate fountain. It's supposed to be a gruff pirate in silly pose with water spouting from his mouth. This one would take longer to do because of the sculpting involved in the pirate figure....

Hmmm! I'm not hundred percent decided yet!

Wonderful, which ever one you pick. Very Money Island.

I'll keep thinking about that pirate school thing in the more annoying term 'Learing Center'.

Andy

Could you not use a toy pirate for the statue?

It would be finding the right toy for the part Giles. I figure if I made an approx 54mm pirate I get exactly what pose I'm looking for!

I've decided to go with the pirate school option. Thanks for the offers of miniatures to stick on to my statue anyway guys!!

Im going to combine some of the planned bits into one training pool. The captains training area and walk the plank training are going on the one piece. I originally meant to stick a cannon training bit on there as well but I forgot to cut out the portholes!!!! Doh!! I'll try and cut them in later.

This is my updated plan....

....and here's where I've gotten so far...

Great idea! The curriculum should include Octopus Wrestling, Shark Riding, Keelhauling, and Plank Walking.
