I'm really looking forward to the new rules. We play quite a lot of SoTR down at the club but have modified a lot. The view of the rules from most of the players at the club is that it's a really fun game but the rules are not very good and written pretty badly but we do have very high hopes for this.

I like the SOTR books just for the background and setting.  Rules didn't do it for me - its fine and all to claim that its a "statless" game, but when you have special characters with like 8 different named special abilities - it would have actually been easier to have given them some stats!

Was very cool that they had walker design rules - and liked that design system quite a bit - although not a fan of many of the walker models.

I will consider picking up the next edition for the background material again (assuming there are some differences).

I suggested they released Unit style cards, that way all the info/spec abilities are easy to hand rather than flipping through the rule book. i'm no good at that sort of thing and the fan made ones have only gone so far.it would be nice to get an 'official' packof unit cards.

I can't say I ever had a problem with the Special Rules for units (other than the poor layout of the rulebook), I found after a few games, they became second nature and didn't change a great deal between armies. Was there any in particular that were problematic, or was it more of a problem with the game concept of the Special Rules?
