I'm down to three characters.

I think the biggest hurdle will be reading the actual rules. I've never been too fond of that sort.  :D

I'm counting on jabber to sort it while he paints his last lot :D

I'm going to attempt some foederati made from warlord plastics with west wind heads... had it all lying around and my wallet voted for me. lol

Here's a dryfit of what I'm considering for foederati/mercenaries. I'm perhaps going to add some more facial hair with GS and capes to som of them if I got the skills.

What do you think? Would it work at all?! If it's mercenaries surely a bit of leeway is allowed? They'd have all kinds of equipment and be a exotic lot all together, right?  lol

Here's a comparison with one of my duguth:

Let me know what needs to be fixed, if you think there are any discrepancies.

I'd go with bigger shields, which would work for either 'British' or 'German' mercenaries  :)

You should call Adelwealh Adelvader.  ;D
The mercs look good, though bigger shields might go well. It'll make them look different to the rest of your force too.

The hero of the day:

This here be my 1st noble I think. I a rolled a 'flatulent' 31 year old son of a peasant with an iron liver.

The original figure I had for this character just didn't fit that description and will be used for something else.

Hope you like.. or don't mind if I do!

Tried to use less light as I always have a hard time photographing white. Don't know if it worked...

I really like him. Lovely colours. You're getting better all the time  :)

I really loathe those squatty-legged plastic Celts waving their arms around though... Such naff figures... How can you do that to the rest of your lovely forces?  ;)

You're right. Half of them look as if they're taking a crap. It was merely an attempt to make it on the cheap...

Janner is telling me that I want some goths from musketeer miniatures instead. I guess I should start sweet talking the the red haired Swedish valkyrie...

 :o :o :o

The Hero of the Day is a great bit of brushwork, sir!
I reckon he is the best one in the warband so far.
Lovely highlighting on him, an excellent balance against the dark pallette of the other chap.
Exquisite!

Really nice, looking forward to seeing more.
I agree with janner and think you should go with Musketeer Miniature goths. Was thinking about getting a few myself to mix in with my Saxons.
 Thanks for posting

I thank you all!

I don't think my technique has improved though. I'm simply allocating more time to each miniature. I always make an estimate when starting a project; the more miniatures the less time for each or I'll never finish.

And 12 armoured Goths with shields are now en route from musketeer island to the Danish kingdom.

Edit: wrong use of a hyphen.

Lovely work mate! I can't wait till we have our first game of this shite. I think they've copied a Saxon banner design! Or did I glue a wrong one on top?!

I like the way all our troops seem to be negotiating a field heavily overgrown with reeds.
In 20 years time we'll all look back at this period as the 'reed' period.. not the red period as with Games Workshop. lol

Dragon standards was kind of the 'in-thing':
