Napoleonic - Lutzen 2nd May 1813 - Refight
« on: November 26, 2012, 05:13:41 PM »
I was away this Saturday at the Manor House hotel at Lundin Links  in Fife for a large scale 28mm Napoleonic game. It was played by 9 gamers from our AB1 group, largely members of the SESWC,  over a single day and was a refight of Lutzen 2 May 1813.

The rules used were Black Powder with the revised turn sequence. It was great fun with masses of troops.

View of allies emerging over the Monarchenhugel - in distance line lancers charge cossacks as French infantry form up.

We fielded an approximate total of  3,500 figures.  The table was 16ft long by 10ft wide.

There is a short report on my blog about the game at
http://blenheimtoberlin.blogspot.co.uk/

With links to a full report by Angus Konstam on how the game played at

I will add a separate page to the blog with all the background, OB, deployment limits, troop ratings and map of the table game.

The French had 2 brigades deployed on the table at the beginning of the game with a local reserve of 5 brigades marching onto the table.  They had a further 6 brigades distant reserve including the Guard and the Emperor himself.

The allied Prussians and Russians had  an initial attack force of  12 brigades, 3 on table on the table at the beginning with another 9 appearing over the first 3 to 4 turns,  and a further 11 in distant reserve.

Opening position - French 8th Infantry division around Gross & Kleine Gorshen with first 2 Prussian brigades deployed on the Monarchenhugel.
