Hi,

Its common(ish) knowledge that The Duke of Monmouths infantry consisted of 5 'regiments' named after colours but I have also read that there was also an independent company from Lyme Regis.

Does anyone have any information about this independent company?

Apart form the fact that it was the first raised due to the Duke landing there, no.

In this period Lyme Regis was notable port, it is therefore generally presumed that at least some of the members of this company had nautical backgrounds.

I am collecting both sides for a Monmouth campaign; so far I have finished 3 of his regiments (Red, Green and Yellow), his guns and some (about a third) of the cavalry.

I have 2 Royalist regiments that I am working on and fancied getting another small rebel unit.

I am unsure (as yet) whether to paint my Royalists as ‘Regulars’ for Sedgemoor or Militia or a mixture of the two.
