A bit difficult-to-game superhero death (potential spoilers)

Please rise all those who think nerdy boy Parker will actually die o_o
http://www.thespec.com/news/world/article/859923--the-amazing-spider-man-peter-parker-dies-in-final-issue-released-wednesday

A rather challenging scenario to game in miniature format, all the same.

Yeah, The biggest franchise of the company.
They'll end it because of artistic reasons allright.... ::) ::

This will be as permanent as most most deaths are in the marvel universe.

Hope they'll finally undo the 'one last day' crap.
That's the main reason I'm not getting back into spider-man.

Well, to be quite exact they don't even hint at ending anything really, they are just rebooting it under a different title (at least according to the article). All the same, I tend to agree that it's going to be just another one of "those deaths". The nonpermanent kind used to bolster sales of special issues, that is.

I wish they wouldnt do these reboots, Amazing Spiderman was rebooted and renumbered a number of times so far, and what they did with Uncanny X-Men, let it get to #522 without any restarts and cancled it, relaunched at #1 canceled at #20 something, then to be relaunched as Uncanny...argh!

As for the death, it will turn out hes another clone.

And that is why both Marvel and DC lost me as a reader for the most part. They rebooted so many titles, canceled ones I liked and kept jacking up the price of a comic book making it hard to collect multiple titles.

Just another cynical rip off of the fans. >:(

Why is it a rip off? If the fans don't like it, they won't buy it and are hardly being ripped off.

Doc-Oc as Spiderman could be much better than having the whiny moaner Peter Parker. At least he'd be clever enough to finally get 8 limbs :).

I expect a return of Peter Parker at some point but why not just embrace the change and see where it leads before gnashing teeth and gouging at the eyes? You never know... it may blow the Parker-spidey out of the water.

"Where are your horses?"
"I don't have any, I have a tractor"
"But we have always used horses before!"
"Yes, but my tractor can plough a hundred times the amount the horse can and I'll be finished in time to relax while there is still light"
"BURN the tractor!!!"
"Have you ever seen a tractor before? Have you seen what it can do?"
"No...BURN the tractor!!!"

 ;)

Not all change is to be feared :)

The problem, I think, is that the comics have always been about Peter Parker, not Spiderman.

I mean that, unlike other superheroes, it wasn't so much about the super powers, and the super fights; but about the very common guy that had to face all that.

He's not an godlike alien, he's not a billionaire, he's not a goverment project. He's a guy who struggles to get the monies to pay his rent. He's the one that readers can truly sympathize with.

Also, he's not a whiny moaner. Despite having good reason to be one, he ain't. He's a tragic hero: orphan, dead uncle because of his in-action, dead love because of his actions... Still he's a cheerful and witty guy.

And, truth be told, if they wanted to kill Peter and replace him with someone else, they could do it in the Ultimate univers. Wait! They already did that! So it isn't even an original plot twist...

I'm with Inso. Just see where this leads.  I read spidey for about ten years, amazing, spectacular and web. Still have a soft spot for the old web head so lets see how spider-Oc pans out with Peter's hero memories.  I see the beginnings of quite a cool anti hero hero.

Cheers

If you had read the first issue of "Superior Spiderman" you would see where the writer is going with this, and it could be a very interesting ride.

ouch, right in the man-childhood.
Glad I don't read that crap anymore.
I'm all for shaking it up, but I think they really dropped the ball since 'one more day'.
It all makes me not want to read it if anything.
Well, there's still a large amount of 80's and 90's spidey comics in my collection I haven't read yet.
