Generation Kill is an HBO seven part TV mini-series about the 1st Recon US Marines push into Iraq in 2003. It's a great series but I'm often surprised at how few folk have actually seen it.

So a New Year and a new project, one which has been sitting around for a while because although I sourced five relatively suitable Humvees cheaply I couldn't find agreeable USMC crew for them. This all changed with the Eureka releases of quite a few including vehicle crews, and I managed to wrangle five packs of these, via Fighting 15's (
http://www.fighting15sshop.co.uk/us-marines-715-c.asp ), as Christmas/Birthday presents so it's time to make a start on it. I've found a pile of screen captures from the series like the one above which is my main reference. If anyone knows of a better reference I'd be pleased to hear of it.

Here's the base model which seems to have become quite hard to find on ebay now. I was picking these up for a few quid/euro/bucks a piece. Sadly it is overscale, but it is a healthy mix of metal and plastic...

...plus you can take it apart. Rather vital as most of the Humvees are pretty stripped. I've also secured some Mk19 Grenade Launchers from Imprint, although the Eureka crews do come with 50 cals.

Here's the crew in place, from on high they do look a little short, but lower down not half as bad. I think I might need to give them small booster cushions, which might well be a first for the USMC.

One figure I am short of is one for Evan Wright, the imbedded reporter, second from left in the photo below. Anyone have any ideas? I'm willing to add a bit of miliput to get it closer.

For those who haven't enjoyed the series here's a video of highlights...
