Thanks, gang!

@Suber: Yes, I used a large brush, and dabbed here and there. Takes a little bit of practice but it's quite easy to pull off. I used Goblin Green right out of the tub for it (washed down a little).

Here are some pictures for from the outside:

This is due to be handed over on Sunday, so I'm expecting a couple of late nights!

I'm still working on a few tidbits for the inside, and, of course, the lid... which is actually a graveyard!

Phew!  :o

Thanks for the tip, I love the effect, seriously!
It's coming along nice on the outside too, I hope to see it soon! :)

That moss takes it from great to stupendous. I spend a lot of time looking at old buildings (I'm an archaeologist by training and a history teacher, among other things, by trade) and I know that the ones I paint never look quite like the real thing -- but this one looks very natural.

Well, with some sadness I have handed this project over to its new owner! Rejoice! After several nights of little sleep, static grass everywhere, the smell of a variety of glues assaulting my senses, it is done. And now, back to my day job (from which I am typing this right now, pretending to be working!)...

So, I suppose I should post some pics, eh?

There are some WIP pics floating through cyberspace from my phone, but if you've got any questions on how I did certain things just let me know :) Here are some more detailed pics:

A few details of note: the roof of the mausoleum does indeed come off, and there are candles inside. I forgot to upload the pic though. There's also a spiral staircase I was quite proud of, I think I have a photo of that too somewhere. The whole lid comes off to reveal the layout beneath... there will be more pics coming, it seems.

All in all, the new owner is really happy with the end result! I still think I need to work on my "creepy cemetery" palette - particularly with flock etc. - but I'm pretty happy with it too.

Let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions :)

That is an amazing and very impressive piece!!  :o

Well done - hats off to you for completing this as a commission job.

How bitter sweet it must be to hand something like this over to its new owner.  :'(

thanks guys, glad you like the end result. As usual, there's so much more I would have liked to have done (like take more photos), but it had to stop somewhere.

Here's some more pics:

Interior of mausoleum:

Blurry pic of staircase:

Mood pic:

I am going to be building another mausoleum for my self, but I'm thinking of getting it cast. Not sure if it's a good shape etc. for that... anyone have any tips?

This is awesome work Christian.
Maybe putting a steeper slop on the mausoleum with a gargoyle type face on the front might make it a bit more ominous looking.

Thanks, beefcake!

The original mausoleum was going to be a bit more gothic, but I opted for a simpler design. As I am making another I'm thinking of going back to the original design. Thanks for the tip :)

Thanks heaps guys. Robert (the new owner) is very pleased with the end result, it looks just as he imagined it :) I think that's pretty good feedback.

So... next steps are to reconstruct the mausoleum with a few more details, and get started on the next projects!  :o

Again, thanks to everyone who gave feedback, commented, or even just popped in to have a look.
