Hi all,

Come help us get this project funded. Only 25 days left to get this 1/56 scale M-26 Pershing tank master and moulds project rolling.

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/292306

There are plenty of perks to choose from for your contribution.

Thanks and cheers,

Jeff @ JTFM/Die Waffenkammer

Does this suggest that the cost of sculpting and casting a resin tank is in the order of $3,000 or is this just an aspirational target?

Not familiar with indiegogo, although it seems a bit like a 100/300 club that a few manufacturers have been using for sometime.  Same concept? What happens with the pledged amount? What happens with the pledged amount if the project doesn't proceed?

From the indiegogo website I gain the impression that the pledges are actually real transfers of money and that indiegogo takes a slice whether the project goes ahead or not ( 4% if it does, 9% if it doesn't) not including anything like transaction fees. So I can presume that if something doesn't materialise you wouldn't get all your money back unless the manufacturer chooses to take a financial bath.  A month to go and roughly 75% of the target figure short doesn't look like good odds.

If his is going to be the trend in manafacturing then I'm curious to know just how this works.

I really hope this does work, JTFM produces top quality kit and Jeff's customer service is excellent, I'm  just unsure about whether I would want to commit to one of these schemes.

To explain how this works. Firstly I opted for a fixed funding drive. With the fixed option any and all money contributed is returned in FULL if the goal is not met. The flexible drive where if the minimum goal is not met everyone gets hit with a fee. With the fixed funding drive you only have a 60 day window to raise the funds but if the drive fails everyone gets their money back.....

If the goal of $3000.00 is met Indiegogo keeps 8% for themselves.

The monies I receive then cover the costs of the primary master, moulds to produce a secondary master, and a series of production moulds....

I hope this explains things a bit better. I don't want anyone to get burned, and I offer lots of perks, which include shipping, in return for a contribution.

Kickstarter isn't available to Canadians yet and I haven't looked to closely at how their system works as opposed to Indiegogo.....

Cheers,

Jeff @ JTFM/Die Waffenkammer

This is interesting, but a question. Is shipping included with the pledge or is that extra? Most Indiegogo and Kickstarters tell you up front if you have to pay for shipping or it if is free.

Guess I will be speaking with my bank manager (aka Wife) to see what I can pledge.  lol

Oh does the Indiegogo charge when you pledge or when the time runs out and then charges the billing?

They transfer the money when the campaign is successfully completed so I think they hold it in trust until then and return it if the campaign fails...

Not in 60 days using the fixed funding. With more time and flexible funding, which means a hit to the contributors if the minimum goal isn't achieved, it probably would.... :(
