Herne the Hunter WIP
« on: 17 January 2013, 11:19:49 PM »
I'm not sure if this should be here or over in Fantasy adventures, but as most Robin Hood stuff is in Medieval, here we go. (moderator, feel free to move).

Here is work so far on Herne the Hunter, woodland God from the 1980's TV Robin of Sherwood, a seminal part of my adolescense .

Hopefully when painted the tissue and linen robes will look less like an exploded hanky .

That's a good idea (to be possibly stolen  :)8)

Any chance of a break down of the figure parts that have been used?

cheers

Excellent conversion! One of the best versions of Robin hood to date in my opinion. Didn't Herne the hunter used to scare you as child Jim!?

That's an excellent bit of work  :-*

It was more Judi Trott's Lady Marion that put the  seminal in my  adolescense, but each to his own  ;)
Well I've lead an evil life, so they say, but I'll outrun the Devil on judgement day.

Ah yes - although I did prefer the youthful Ray Winstone to his current late middle aged self... (Especially when he played Henry the VIII which was scoop your eyes out with a spoon time... )

Typecast, even back then, poor lamb  ::)

yeah, I ended up marrying a redhead because of her (I did't tell my Mrs. that though).

I bought a bunch of barbarians at a show ages ago and there were 4 of these antlered guys. Chronopia? The rest is milliput pva and tissue. (could be some reference to adolescent tissue and Judi Trott there but best not.)

This is very interesting.  I too remember the show as the one that set the par for all Robin Hood versions thereafter.  The pagen influences really caught the attention of this young teenager.  Looking forward to following this and seeing where it goes.

Thanks,
Night Owl

Thanks Night Owl, not sure if I'm qualified to welcome you with your first post being a newbie myself, but welcome anyway. Not sure where this will go, but with the release of Conquests New Robin Hood range it may go far. The pagan theme had a big influence on me as well, and the TV show is cited in Ronald Hutton's history of Modern Witchcraft The Triumph of the Moon as being a major part of the pagan resurgence in the 1980's.
