P_Clapham's Lord of the Rings Thread
« on: 18 January 2013, 08:59:04 PM »
I've been painting LotR minis off and on since the Fellowship.  My figures are a mix of Games Workshop and Wargames Factory.  Once I get settled into my new flat I should hopefully have some new (and better quality) pictures for you.

When I read the War of the Ring book I was thrilled the Angband army list could field warriors of the dead.  I painted my undead to be less spectral and more corporeal looking.

A warrior of the dead and a Morran Orc

Man of Rohan (WF) and a Barrow Wight painted in my old spectral style

Barrow Wight painted in the new muted corporeal style

A couple more orcs

The Witch King and a Man of Rohan (WF)

Here's an older group shot of orcs.  I'm not sure why my recent photography has been suffering so.  I am using the same digital camera, and am employing a light box as well.

Clearly I need to work on my photography skills a bit.    :-[

Nice miniatures. And I think the corporal way of painting undead is actually nicer than your previous way.

What I cannot understand is why Angmar should have an undead army. I know GW published the rules that way, but basically Angmar's army where a mix or orcs, hillmen and maybe some mercenary troops from other areas. Just because the whitchking summoned some spirits to haunt the Barrow Downs doesn't mean those where his army. Guess it's just a way of selling different models.

That nonwithstanding, nice way to start an army.
