A ploughed field outside the town - with a pumpkin or sack-headed scarecrow.

Some old trees - I agree with Hammershield that he new GW plastis trees would be perfect

Wells - possibly an open-sided well house in the village centre

A graveyard

A gibbet on a hill - with victim still hanging in a cage from it

A couple of wagons or carts parked in the street (with hoses) or up side alleys) without horses

A small disheveled hovel by the road leading into town

A woodcutters cottage ourside town

There is a laundry yard scene on this 3rd page of a 40mm musketeer topic, along with some other interesting building ideas. Not sure how much of it fits with the horror theme of this thread, but a few wooden tables like this outside a tavern probably wouldn't hurt:

A cheaper option is to scratchbuild some. These were made from wire, garden twine and cotton wool soaked in watered down PVA:

Only $1.50 as a PDF download. If they are not "in-period", how about doing some colour drawings of suitable garments, scaling them down & printing them out yourself?

They look pretty good & would be far quicker & easier than using fabric etc.

They remind me of those trees you find down in the deep south, Ihaveno idea what they are called.

Looking quite the business. I can't do things like that without glueing my tie to my forhead.

Well, there's your first problem, old chap. Scenery making is not so formal a business as to require a suit and tie, even of the finest gentleman. Working class rig is really quite acceptable, and a pint of something can help produce fine scenery - it's rarely so exacting a business as painting the whites of the eyes on 2mm figures, or what have you.

I am pretty confident when it comes to doing scenery but it takes me an age to get anywhere near a half decent result on figures. (hence the town as of yet being devoid of life)

Very nice terrain piece you hace there, I've seen it on a different forum or site before ( don't know where).
I do have some nice tips for you to make it even better:

There is a tutorial on how to make this as well.

Those trees are awesome and just the kind of thing im looking for. Where did you find the tutorial for them or did you write it? Please pass on the link so I can have a go myself.
