Vikings on the History Channel
« on: 28 February 2013, 05:25:11 AM »
I'm probably the last wargamer in the world to find out about this show because I rarely watch TV (except Walking Dead of course) but this looks really cool.

My guess is that it will be rife with historical inaccuracies and plot will give way to Hollywood style fantastical scenes, but who cares?  A mini-series about Vikings - how awesome is that!

It premieres on March 03, 2013 in the United States on the History Channel.

I'be been watching the commercials for the last few weeks.
It looks pretty good.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Oh gods!!!!!! :o

I just watched it.

I loved it. As far as I can tell, a lot of it was accurate as well. I look forward to the rest of the series.

And then after you watch this, find a copy of "Valhalla Rising" and watch that to re-set yourself  ;)

I had no faith in it, but then they surprised me.

The costumes and props arent 100% but not that bad either (at least not yet) but the literary references were pretty close if not right. I'll give the rest of the season a shot.

Just watched it last night. It looks very promising. I enjoyed it. A lot of inspiration for scenery & painting figures.

That was one bit I expected, they're supposed to be Danes and Norwegians after all.  lol

If anybody does find a link to full episodes on YouTube or whatever, please post it. Be just the thing before my trip tp Iceland in a few weeks....!

Speaking of which, DO we have any active Icelandic members on the forum...?

I was able to log in using my Comcast Cable login at

http://www.history.com/shows/vikings

After logging in the website gives you the option to watch the full pilot episode and next week’s full episode.  There is no additional cost other than what you pay your cable provider.

You can buy each episode for $2 at Amazon.com (digital/cloud drive copy) or if you have Amazon prime, you can watch it without an additional cost.

Episode 1 is available for free at Hulu.com

Hope this helps.
