Moitereis (late) WW2 project (Update 19/10/2015)
« on: March 03, 2013, 10:37:24 PM »
As I had to test the new plastic soviets by Warlord Games I decided to go (at least at the moment) for a small 500 pts. Rifle Squad for Operation Squad.

now that's an inspired brush!

given Your experience with these plastics, what would You think how many of the basic postures could go as tank riders?

@all: Thanx a lot  :)

@6milphil: Don't know of I should thank you or if you just called me an idiot  ;)

@former user: As there are 5 lieing and 10 kneeling postures in the box I think these would work with minimal conversions. Maybe you could use some of the others as troopers just dismounting...

These are stunning! What paints did you use for these?

Really nicely done. :-*

They look like they have properly proportioned arms which is an improvement over the German and British boxes I have. (they are too thin if your wondering what I mean)

Thank you guys  :D

@King Thor:
Mostly Vallejo and Foundry though I used some Citadel colours too, though I almost can't tell you the exact paints as I mix them myself from different manufacturers until they fit my needs.

Today there's the support weapons for my soviets. Unfortunately the came hasn't got the colours right... The ZIS-3 team is closest to the actual colours:

82mm Mortar:

Maxim MMG:

ZIS-3 anti-tank gun:

For some more pictures of the crew just head over to my blog:

Might have to go for a box at Salute after all........the Plastic Soldier ones were disappointing, mainly from the fact they were more 'true scale' so too slim for the rest of my lead. Or, 'Вы никогда не бывает слишком много русской пехоты!' as Stalin must have been heard to say!

Good work!
But there are some small mistakes. For example, the Russian artillery officers service cap should have a black ribbon with thin red lines.

Thank you guys.

@cuprum: Great! Many thanks for your information... Seems like I've to go back to work again. Just painted them as the examples on the Warlord Games site.

Should have known that's wrong  >:(

@pocoloco:
At least not for Operation Squad as it plays to slowly with bigger/ more squads.
Maybe when I give another WW2 Ruleset a go.
