My first 28mm scenery

Hi all,

Iv'e been watching as a guest for the last 6 months. i thought i better come out of the shadows and stop stalking you all. Sengennaru pointed me in the direction of the LAF from the Round Table of Bretonnia. I have found you all very talented and inspiring. Keep up the amazing work and enjoy Salute!

So after much inspiration, i thought I would try a small building for my Bretonnians. Scratch building from bits and bobs is a bit cheaper than buying mountains of lead off E-Bay

So I made a small 2 storey inn, with a loft (so 3 storeys). I based the doors on a based miniature, 20mm x 35mm. I feel the building is a little tall, is that the general consensus? What can be improved on it? It's more 'classic' tudor/fantasy than a real life medieval tudor building. I live in Australia and the oldest building I've seen here is from the 1800's (we have a proud ancient heritage ).

A few WIP shots. Foamcore structure with, balsa, card and cork details.




And after a long time, lots of bricks, lots of timber and glue. I have this. Im pretty happy, i think a few field flowers would be nice.

The windows are made from garlic bags, stretched across gladwrap/clingwrap, with a liberal amount of white glue/PVA applied.

Very nice stuff.  And no, I don't think it is too tall.  Medieval buildings in cities and towns, seemed to have been squashed in so often seem to have been taller to utilise upward space.

The only thing I would suggest would be smaller roof tiles.
Not a serious problem as it still looks right to the eye.
Other than that it all works well for me.


And the chimney is great!

Second Mason about the tiles and I'd also (for the next one) have the tiles slightly overhanging the walls a little bit.

Ah thanks, guys. the roof tiles are as large as torsos! Thanks for that. Do you recommend thin cardboard for tiles? I thought thick added some weight to them but they were hard to cut much smaller.

So, some flowers arrived, and I went to the workshed to pull out the gardening tools (including superglue and tweesers) to plant 'em.

Silfor was really easy to use. The little white flowers look awesome. I ended up with the 4mm flowerbeds and the 6mm 2 tone dry tufts. I think i could have ordered more 6mm, 4mm was a little small.
