Solo Dungeon bash using a card driven system.
« on: 26 March 2013, 10:07:36 PM »
I've put together some cards to allow me a bit of solo dungeoneering. Here's the first couple of pages of a battle report, do check out the Blog for the rest and more on the cards:

That looks like it could be a lot of fun. I bought all the newer D&D board games but I always thought classic rules would work so much better.

A great AAR.

And Yes! We are interested in your cards.

Please share them with us.

Best wishes.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

This is one of a few gaming projects I'd love to get to the level of quality I'd consider releasable. I love giving back as it were to the community and to date I've only got a few houses out for people to download. So yes if there is enough interest in the cards I'm happy to put in the time needed to get these out to you all. So far about eight people out of 6 billion have shown an interest so not too bad  ;)

There are actually seven billion people on the earth, but you can add me to the list too. :)

Nice job, Erny! I've been mucking about with this sort of thing for ages too, loosely based on my love for WHQ (which never survives past a game or two, the combat is just too dull) and cooperative dungeon crawling. I was looking at LabLord as an engine.

Yep that's what I use but I have experimented with The SoBH RPG too. I think 3rd ed warhammer may work too after seeing one of Warlord Paul's AAR.

A stripped retroclone of 3rd would probably work very well. Or why not go the full nine retro yards and use 1st... ;) Biggest problem with basing a dungeon crawl on an existing rule set is you get a lot of un-needed fluff. I tried to get into Dungeon Bash (see BGG for details) which uses D&D3.5 (I even bought the books for DB only) but it was too much leafing through these big-ass books with page upon page of superflous details. For solo play brevity is key!

Looks great ,i like the card ideas very neat. i would love to give it a go  :)

A stripped down system is a holy grail although rpg versions abound a simple Erny style has much promise  :-*
