Error messages more frequent lately?

I think its getting more frequent, I couldn't access the site for a while this morning and it has just hit me again, midway through posting a comment. :x

my web space provider says our forum database is often overloaded. Too many queries. I've made some optimization changes on the forum configuration,  less topics per page and so on.

I think now it should be a bit better but it's really a provisional solution. We grow really fast and our traffic and database too. Actually traffic isnt really a problem for the error messages but the database. It looks like that one day (maybe still this year) we will need an own web server. And that will be expensive

But not yet, maybe we will try it with another forum software first.

960 a year. Thats like 100 members donating 10 euros a year. Whit the resent influx of members I don't think it is unreasonable to bvelieve you'd reach that goal. Speaking for myself, that's cheap for the service I get here. I mean, hell, where else would I get promoted to 'scatterbrained cleverman', just for a mere 2000 posts.

While a garage sale, meaning members getting rid of some surplus lead on ebay and donating the proceeds, may generate a one (few) times influx of cash, I think a donation drive is the way to go.

Sounds like a good idea to me for the monthly costs.  I wish the dollar to EURO conversion was a little friendlier though!  Some kind of "garage sale" or something like hammershield suggested could help with the web server too.  Sounds like he's got a plan...He is a genius!  I'd definately help out.

I've got no problem with 10 euro a month. I had a problem logging on recently, the solution to my problem was that I hadn't re-installed adobe flash player after re-installing my windows software. One adobe flash player installation later the only problem I have is the occasional time out message, which always loads properly when I hit the try again switch.

I've run into the occasional database error recently, including twice just now when I tried to load the main forum index.

I don't read German, but I think the error message told me I was a 'splattered zeitpunk' - doesn't sound nice, whatever it is.  ::

I'd be up for a few bucks a year - with TMP turning into The Miserable Pit I can see spending much more time here rather than TMP forums...

I don't know if this is relevant or even useful, but the last couple of days, I've been getting the 500 message around 10.00 a.m. English time.

Same here, most days recently, including today.

I assume everyone is very busy at work around then  :roll:  :wink:
