posting images on to the topic, ie my messages.
« on: June 05, 2016, 10:13:43 PM »
Hi All,

Being as I have some pictures of my collection and works in progress which soe of you may be interested in having a laugh at or maybe impressed with. I wonder if any of you can explain the process which I have to endure or otherwise. I am a simple soul so please be patient.

Many thanks

Budyenny.

Hi Budyenny, the easiest way to attach pictures to your posts is to use the 'Additional Options' - which you'll find under the text box. Press that, then, next to where it says 'Attach' is the 'Browse' button - this will let you look through the files you have on the device you're using - select the file/pic you want - its filename will appear in the box next to where it says 'Browse' - at which point you're ready to post.
   Hope that helps!
(This will place the picture at the end of the post - it is possible to place the pictures throughout your post, but I'm afraid I've never bothered to learn how, so you'll have to find someone more tech-literate than me!)

Thank you Ballardian,

I tried this, so I got some progress, however the image size was over 1500kb? So I resized the image, still no joy. I have read another thread which appears to suggest I cannot upload an image from my pictures file on my PC is this correct, if so what does anyone suggest?

Many thanks in advance.

Did you check your messages? ;)

If you're having trouble uploading directly to the site, you can get onto a photo-hosting site. They usually give you a decent amount of free space if/when you register. (1 terabyte on Flickr, which I use, though there are other popular sites like Photobucket, Imgur and so on) Then it's a similar process: click on upload, or an upload symbol; browse through your folder of photos; and upload. Then you have to get the image link (right click and copy image address, or look about for a 'share' button. Paste the link into your post, and if the hosting site doesn't already give you the BBCode version, wrap [img] image tags around it: highlight the link text and click the 'picture in frame' button, above the line of smileys and directly below the italic I button.

Maybe I'm a relic of dial-up and low monitor resolutions, but an image file over 1.5MB sounds fairly big! How did you resize it? Do you know what format it is? (I.e. the 'dot and three letters' at the end of the filename)
