I'm definitely going to need a couple sets of decals. I've got an M3 sitting around that would look great with the Rabbit Team markings on it....

So.  If I did this project in 1/72; is that roughly 15mm figs or 20mm?  And are there any good anime girls in those sizes.  I've always played in God's own scale and not the smaller fiddly ones.
This is my boomstick!

Sorry for the threadomancy but I just saw these tanks at the Revell website.  They are Snap-Tite, but are exceptionally cheap, scaled 1/48 and may be a good way to build up some armor for your G&P project.  Even though the 3 currently available aren't perfect matches to the teams' rides, I think with a suitable PJ (over the garish prepaints) I can make do for the price ($13.95US).  Then I can do it in the scale I want with some delicious Statuesque Miniatures figs to crew them.
Currently a Sherman, Panzer, and Patton are the only offerings.

Pfffff hahaha what? Those are nuts!

I guess someone was trying to squeeze a few extra dollars out of some toy tank moulds that weren't doing anything else?

Probably.  I think they look very 2000's GI Joe.  They'd probably make good adversaries for a Tank Girl game.

I think 1:72 is kind of 20mm and 1:76 is kind of 15mm, but I don't think they're exact fits, rather close enough as makes no odds.

15mm is more to scale with 1/87 and 1/100 (Peter Pig even advertises that on his site)

Yeah, I think you're right.

I think I'm getting my HO and my OO mixed up.
