Nice present.

I would buy one too, but it would be like asking for another pen, because...
This one don't spell right. :D

Excellent paint job on the camo in any scale, but to achieve it in 20mm... :o :o :-*

Agreed! I would be happy if I could do as well with 28mm...  lol

Ash, you (and your Mk. I eyeball) are truly an inspiration to us all!  :o

After chopping the doors off I added the upright support post back on the gunner's side.

Hello Ash, not sure if you'll read my question since it's been ages ago when you originally posted this. I just bought 4 Heller Alouette IIIs and am starting to also build them a Rhodesian G and K cars. QUESTION: How did chop off the part of the doors as seen? Did you use one of these minisaws?

Couple of other pix of the 'Cheetah' & a fairly cheapo Hunter kit I picked up on eBay ...

Ash, which two green and brown colours/brand did you use. Vallejo?

The tubes are to look like heat dispersal pipes for the exhaust.

My goodness I've seen loads of pics of the Rhodesian DAK's and have until now always overlooked those dispersal pipes. Call that a "blind eye."

Yes indeed, I think that was probably a couple of straight cuts with a razor saw, then smooth out the curve with files and fine sandpaper.
Cut on the 'window' side so you keep the 'frame' bit.

That was Humbrol rattle cans. Probably 'Dark Earth 29' for the brown and 'Dark green 30' for the camo pattern.

I believe it was pretty much an extension pipe on the exhaust , with a larger diameter pipe inside another pipe over that. To put the engine 'hot spot' behind the wing.

Ash, I'm flabbergasted and my jaw dropped. You're such a champion and nice person. I did not expect to get answers to my questions so fast and precise. Don't know what to say except THANK YOU. Two days ago I met someone whom I explained what wargaming is and how it works. I also mentioned that it was my experience that in general gamers/modelers are "family", helping, supporting and gaming with eachother. My wife was present. When I mentioned your quick reaction and examples of your work in this thead she just stated "well that's what you mentioned to that fella a few days ago. I'm one of the lucky guys, she fully supports me, went along to conventions, games (!) etc.

Showed her BTW the pics of the painted dog handler you posted. Added showing her some pics of the Fire Force guys jumping off the helis with their dogs. Explained how they worked with them. Her reaction: "Guess you'll have to buy and paint two teams with dogs when you're building you Rhodesian units." Since the dog model pretty much looks like (also in size) our own dog she will name one dog after our dog. And will want to play and command some of the Fire Force. Beware when she and the doggo go into action ...

No probs, happy to help. Nice to know some of the old stuff is of some use, considering there are 3D printed options now, with all the mods pre molded.
