Heavy Crossbow:

Scratch-built with plastic card/strip/rod/tube, brass rod, wire and aluminium mesh.  The pyramid base is loose fitting, allowing the weapon to be rotated in situ, with the brass rod fitting into a tube set into the tyrewall base.  There are around 50 separate components and it was rather fiddly at times, but is now a reasonably robust finished item.

In situ, with a miniature:

Bloody brilliant, mate.
Looks like a lot of effort but the result is class.

Rather over-engineered, but (as with so many builds) I was making it up as I went along.

I never tyre reading this thread.
Tread carefully.....  >:D

Meanwhile, back at the bus...

I've sculpted the (partial) body of the driver, adding a spare Crooked Dice head I had:

Supplies for the bus interior:

The boxes are a single piece of blue foam cut and painted to look like a pile of boxes.  I added some fuel drums (roughly cast in plaster years ago) and a putty sheet.  There are a few more loose items currently being painted.

Bus exterior:

More ProCreate for the sheets that hang from the side of the bus.  They have been sculpted onto thin plastic card as my intention is to make them removable for when the bus drives off.

The sheets, along with a (removable) plastic card shelf and a rope ladder (galvanised wire mesh).  Base colour finished on the bus body.

The driver turned out great! I guess amputees get all the worst jobs after the apocalypse.. at least he gets fed.  ;D

Nice work not doing the legs, I spent ages giving a pilot a pair of legs (using 2 figures) only figuring out at the end you cannot see anything below his chest :(

You've captured that School Bus Yellow perfectly - I passed one just the other day, so I was able to make the comparison! I picked up that very same bus just the other day, so I'm looking forward to seeing yours finished!

I added some armour panels to the other side of the bus.  A piece of plastic card was cut to size, but slightly smaller than required.  Individual panels were then added which slightly overlapped the underlying piece.  On the reverse I glued several 90' angle pieces that would sit in the windows and support the armour.

The finished bus:

The armour, sheets, ladder and shelf are all removeable.
It was only after taking the photos I realised that I hadn't placed some bits on quite straight.... Lucky I hadn't glued them like that!

I have also finished both sides of the gateway, but as one half forms my entry for the current Build Something contest I will wait until its conclusion before posting.
