What rules are you playing, Blackpowder?

I am also painting Russians but am probably a year or more away from achieving what you have there.

Good gravy...I see some ESCI plastics in there - how in the world do you keep the paint on them?  Is there a trick to it?  I debated painting up some 1/72nd stuff for a modern game, but the plastic was murder!

There are quite a few tips online about painting soft plastic figures but unless you have already committed to painting them I would not bother.

I mean seriously since the advent of hard plastics from Victrix, Perry and others,the difference in cost is small. So go with hard plastic. The sculpts and poses are much better. You always get those stupid poses that you can't do anything with in the soft plastics.

When I started wargamming I started painting Esci Napoleonic Brits. I am so traumatised by the heart breaking process of spending hours painting the figures to have paint flake off with a little bit of handling. I sold my plastics and didn't touch Napoleonics again for 10 years!

Although there are some soft plastics the bulk of the infantry are Springwood hard plastic figures produced in the early 70s, unfortunately they never really got going.


The dreaded yellow bayonet disease was a curse in the past, but with washing the figures in the dishwasher, acrylic paints, instead of enamel and the change away from single figure basing means the curse has been lifted.
