Anyone know how to make REALISTIC female soldiers? As in, not GW female.

What country are we talking about then. The US body armor and rack system combined with a helmet makes ever one look pretty androgynous. Usually the only differences would be that women solders might just happen to have wider hips and have there hair done up into a bun of some sort underneath their helmet.

Sure, pick out the ugliest looking figure in the squad and paint the lips red. That may just be the British Army though.

Well Captain Li is certainly not the worst looking figure I have ever seen ok she is not BA... she is PLA. Have also seen several ROK officers/NCOs in pictures (including the students of a former classmate of mine... who need to replaced it seems...  ) that are quite jaw dropping. Well, the only different in the end is the head. I think very few sculptors can do a decent pretty head that could survive painting. Of course you want a pretty head because if you have an ugly head you are already covered.  Today troops are so burdened with equipment you really do not see body differences.

It was a sweeping generalisation based on real life experience in the '80s and not to be taken too seriously.

I know, I was joking back...

but really, there is no need to clamour for ugly face in 28mm we are already well served.  but you point is well made in the end what we need are decent (opposed to caricature) female heads.
