Having been shamed into some activity by The Crazy Viking I had a dig around for my missing ingredients for the Box Challenge.

I put the stuff together a while ago and then promptly lost one of the factions.

Well, now that I have found them, and to prove that I am not a complete
slacker (unlike Bibbles...), here they are:

Well there will be a bit more involved, but these are the base elements.
I just need to find some time, in between IHMN Companies, which had distracted me (who said 'Butterfly' ?), and get on with it.
 :D

Is that better, Mr CV?

It certainly is.

 lol

Well, if AEG has identified the box, I guess I dont need to explain that bit..... ::)

Other than that, there ae three pieces of MDF that need cutting to make the board, a box of shiny metal 'soldiers' and a sprue of plastic 'cannibals'.
Oh, and a packet of, according to the label, 'shrubbery'.....

When I get around to doing a bit more, all shall become clear.
Whenever that is...

I did start putting some paint on the 'cannibals' this afternoon, though.
I should have been painting something else, so I hope you feel at least a little guilty, you Bad Viking!

On a more serious note, a brief description of what is intended.

The game will involve two sides played on a board formed by the box when laid out flat. The boxes are actually designed to do this to make the paper that was originally stored in it more accessible. (See the picture in the previous post).

The board, which will be made from the MDF, is intended to represent a classic 'desert island' but will have mountainous and wooded areas (the 'shrubbery') and there will be rules specific to these areas.
Speaking of rules, these will be a much simplified version of the rules for Chess (hence the name  ;)), simpler as there will be fewer different types of pieces.

The two opposing sides of the game are a group of island natives, the 'cannibals' and a group of invaders, the 'soldiers'.

I made a start on the natives yesterday by undercoating, base coating and washing them whilst still on the sprue. (I was shamed into this by the  >:D Crazy  Viking).
I have never done this before, but figured that this has to be a much quicker method than any other. I have no idea whether this will work well or not. Only time will tell.

The evidence (not the best picture, but you get the idea...

I should have been painting French Foreign Legion, but it is the Year of the Butterfly, so hey-ho....

It is starting to look like this is not going to happen.

I have been gripped by the VSF bug, and, unless I can come up with an idea that fits into VSF or Strange Aeons, I think this is going to have to be postponed.

Too much to do, not enough time...

Sorry, Crazy Viking Despot Fella....

I will come back to it and do it at some point, but may well miss the deadline...although I will still TRY to fit it in.

I saw your shiney ninjas and was a little worried. :(

Well sir fit it into your VSF, can you make terrain for your vsf, and have a "small" campaign which fits in the box? A small Japanese ninja force verse some European colonial power? A small skirmish of your larger whole?

Use it as a deadline/guideline for what you already want to do. ;)

I believe in you Mason, if you can make Krappelfort, this is a cake walk :D
James I think you could fit a missing section of viaduct an some Japanese into a PAPPIS box not to late to make it work ;) perhaps the PAPPIS is the new transport system for the LAF  ???  lol

Cheers
Matt

To be perfectly honest, it has bothering me since I posted last night and I may have thought of a way to make something that fits into my VSF plans AND fits in the box.

I dont like to say that I will do something and then say that I no longer can.

It wont be the same idea at all, but the theme wont be too far off of the original idea.
I will try and give it a go.
