Denizen dwarf and 28mm human?
« on: 19 May 2013, 06:18:59 PM »
Hi there, I'm thinking of doing a headswap with a Denizen Miniatures dwarf (see picture below, I was looking at DW17) and (possibly) a Crooked Dice miniatures head from one of their headpacks to create Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones. Unfortunately, I do not know how they match up size-wise. Since some dwarf-miniatures are very bulky and have bigger proportions in comparison to humans, I'm not willing to risk the chance of buying a head or body that doesn't fit. So, does anyone have a Denizen dwarf and an ordinary human (28mm to eye) miniature? If so, could someone please post a photo or something to compare the miniatures? Thanks!

I can't help you with your request, but I agree with Quendil that those are some nice looking dwarf figures.  I especially like the ones with the two handed weapons.

Hm, with some minor conversions they'd be good chaos dwarves as well. At  £1.00 a piece, they're also cheap.

A quick bit of googling brings up this pic (link, as it's in someone's photobucket album):

Though I plan to restrict my main dwarf army to Der Kriegspieler and 1978-1979 Ral  Partha Dewarf figures I had to buy at least one of each of these, I was that impressed.

I am thinking you might have to see specifically what kind of 28 mm human figure you want to convert because it would seem to me that the human figure couldn't be too "heroic" with out the head looking microcephalic.

No 28 mm humans in my collection to compare with or I would post one...

Gracias,

Glenn

The Denizen Dwarves, as with the rest of their minis are excellent sculpts but a little smaller than 'todays' heroic scale.....

Those helmeted ones could make decent hobbits if they didn't have beards poking out the bottom of their helmets.

Those dwarves are great. I have a number of Denizen figures but I don't have any of them. Going to have to look into getting some.

They are some of the finest dwarves ever made and are going to be my main dwarf encounter party in my D&D collection. I have quite a few and was one of the smartest miniatures purchases I've made in recent times. I even got a signed note from sculptor Chub Pearson out of it!

They indeed look very nice, and they're very cheap! I like the medieval-ish look, instead of the viking-like look of a lot of fantasy dwarves. Since I'm thinking of converting one to Tyrion, that's a big advantage.

Anyway, I ordered the dwarf I was looking at, and will compare it to one of my own 28mm humans when it arrives. Judging by those pictures, it shouldn't look too bad. If the head of the human looks good enough, I'm going to buy one of those crooked dice head packs. If not, I guess I'll have to find a better alternative...

They supposedly have separate heads, so trimming off the beard should be relatively easy.
