Genie / Djinn miniatures?
« on: May 22, 2013, 08:26:55 AM »
Ok, time for me to draw on the collectiveknowledge of LAF. I've got a band of Barbary Pirates that I'd like to add a fantasy element to, and thought of adding a Genie/Djinn. What minis are out there? i know of a single one from Reaper, but that's about it. Also, if anyone has other good ideas for adding a fantasy element to them, then I'm all ears.

On might assume that Iron Wind Metals has pretty much the same stuff as Ral Partha Europe. Quickly managed to find only one tho:
http://ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=8304

Hell Dorado has some. Well, two at least.

If you accept elementals as Djinnis then the selection becomes much larger.

How about some water elementals or mermaids (Reaper: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/mermaid , though I think there are other as well)? Some of the D&D prepaint minis are made of translucent blue plastic, just have a look on ebay ("d&d water elemental")

Probably something like an animated ship's figurehead could work as well (Reaper: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/ship/latest/14106#detail/14106_G ) though you probably could convert something similar.

Or possibly some humanoid crabs? http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/product/envoy-1/
Or even some Fishmen/ Deep Ones might works or some of the more critter/ creature like Deep wars stuff, as well as Four A Miniatures Sea Demons or Hydra'S Aqualcops. Really depends on where you wanna take the whole thing.

Fishmen (partly copied one of my posts on Frothers, far too lazy to edit/ type all that again):
some of the Carnevale stuff: http://www.vesper-on.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=78:rashaarminis&catid=7:miniaturas2&Itemid=14&lang=en

Blackball games: http://blackballgames.bigcartel.com/product/deep-one

some with robes for strange aeons: http://www.strange-aeons.ca/umw-shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=5
Then there's this one: http://www.strange-aeons.ca/umw-shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=84 - quite big, quite expensive and you have to join something to buy it.

Reaper has some: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/fish

Acheson: http://achesoncreations.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=924&category_id=84&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

Wyrd/ Malifaux: http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Spawn-Mother.html and http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Gupps.html

WarmaHordes: http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/minions/units/bog-trog-ambushers

Another vote for the Otherworld one  :D

But, for other options

Cipher have a rather cluttered one called Al'Djinn

& Alkemy have (or will have) Djinn Mahritin (part of the Khaliman faction) - it's huge!

Ral Partha also did a lovely one (Marid), but it looks as though it no longer available  :? ???

True that. The Helldorado ones are quite nice and what they'd end up being (water, fire, whatever) would mostly depend on on colour choice.
links for the lazy ones:

Sha ren Zhe
is quite nice as well (and quite chunky), though probably a bit too chinese/ japanese themed.

Crooked Dice's new "cursed Harpy" might work as well tho it's not officially a Djinn. Seems like you'd have to figure out some use for the masked fella tho.

Tom Meier sculpted a djinn in a vignette called "Magic Carpet Ride".

Very cool mini although hard to find these days.
