What a coincidence, I painted my HQ orcs in the same batch with the FW ones... hmmm... don't seem to have taken too many pics of them but here they are:

@phreed: I like your skin color and the purple tunic complements it nicely. I should try some lighter skin tones in the next batch.

Cheers! I figured, as hobgoblins, they should be orange/yellow/ochre-ish... The purple was a bit of an accident. I painted diluted mechrite red over a white undercoat and decided I liked it better than what I had originally intended. They're part of a large, long-term project. Mixed race whfb bad guys vs good guys. All plastic monopose models from the late 80s and early 90s. The bad guys have (or will have) different shades of red, purple and black. Good guys green, white and blue.

Mrtn: Actually, no. =) I picked it up many times in the shop and considered getting it, but couldn't be bothered with all the miniatures (at the time). I got these for free from cheetor a few years ago. I have a mate who owns it, never uses it - and refuses to let me buy it. =D

Building up to a photo session, hopefully over the Easter Hols as all 150 are virtually done...

Ok, how come I've only just seen this thread?

Seems like there is a huge amount of Lundophilia about... Which is awesome. I thought I was the only one!

You've done a brilliant job on those plastics! I'm jealous.

I'm a dwarf player, not an Orc. I fell out of love with Gw dwarfs when they lost their knees and got orange hair. I found grenadier dwarfs, and never looked back.

Naturally my dwarfs needed something to fight (although they never go on the table top) so I started picking up grenadier orcs...

That was 25 or so years ago, and I continue to pick up bits and pieces on eBay etc.

The result? I now have about a thousand figures in the two armies! All metal. Though I too have eyed the plastic figures at two shillings per thousand and imagined the second and third waves of orcs that I'm going to need...

You can see bits and pieces on my highly neglected blog
http://brandlin.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/FW%20Dwarf
And
http://brandlin.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Fantasy

It's been four years since I posted anything regarding them. This thread had inspired me to get my camera out at the weekend...

Thank you.

Now, where are the update pictures?

Cool project! I would have done some heavy armour orcs by going crazy with the plasticard. Get some thin stuff and simply cut out plates. Its really easy to do, and go with the polystyrene cement. Also, chew the plasticard to get a really easy beaten metal texture....

What is this obsession that people seem to have with painting figures? its highly overrated. I think the task might simply be to collect, organise and base. That way I have a chance of finishing. Whatever 'finishing' means.

Brilliant thread! Love the variety of all the conversions. As much as I don't mind mono-pose models, orcs are one of those armies that never look orcy enough if they're all regimented. With the conversions you barely notice that everything in a unit is based on one model. Love it.

That's why I love the Asgard orcs. Lots of variety in poses and they look great as a rabble. The conversions here work really really well.
