Homemade Drones
« on: May 22, 2013, 03:57:46 PM »
I have been toying with making some homegrown drones , using bases ala

as a basis.

Can anyone recommend a source for antenna , powerplants and weaponry to flesh them out ?

I've used steel wire for my eyebot (the thick antenna in the middle is part of the mini):

Just be careful with this material, it's as sharp as a needle.

That's a pretty nasty looking drone.  It's like an evil version of Sputnik.  What parts did you use to put it together?

I suppose any kind of greebles would work well for powerplants. I thought Antenociti sold some, but I don't find any in the shop.

Ah.  That's a neat mini...  As for parts to detail scratch built ones... spare Tau antennas, guitar strings, small ball bearings?

You could make them rotor-based like the "manhacks" in Half Life 2 :)
