Hello all, first post on the forum so I hope this is in the right place!
After watching 'Vera Cruz' I ordered some 28mm 1860s French Foreign Legion from Gringo 40s last week. Just a small test pack to see the quality. They arrived two days after I ordered them and I had a very pleasent email conversation with the owner. Top marks for service.
The figures are about the same scale as Aventine, bigger than Foundry and Perry, although not as large as some of Warlord's. They are also very clean, almost no flash and very small mold lines. I cleaned all 8 in about 5 minutes.
The detail is stunning and the figures are full of character. Detail and and different areas on the model's surface are very well defined, making them very easy to paint to a high standard. These are actually some of the best recent 28mm figures I've seen. I enjoyed painting the first 4 so much I'm thinking of getting some more French, Mexican and American figures to use for Muskets and Tomahawks. I think the rules might fit the period (1860s) nicely.
Gringo40s also do an Alamo range and a range of Conquistadores and Mayans. They are well worth a look:
