Game in the garden (pic heavy)

Since this weekend was the first batch of decent actually warm weather we've had in the NE of Scotland I got to play a game outside.

Well I confess it was on the table, in the garden....not in the long grass and border with plastic 54mm figs like when I was a kid
My knees wouldn't stand that now!  

I se the table up outside and played a solo game using the rules from the Neil Thomas Napoleonic Wargames book. I quite like them and they work for me, which is all I ask from rules.

8 units a side,
6 French line, 1 Léger, 1 gun.
7 Austrian Line, 1 grenadier, 1 gun.

The French advanced on the hedgerows containing 2 Austrian line , the grenadiers and the gun, screwed by the Léger.  They wore down the Austrians enough to charge in and in drive them back.

By this time the remaining Austrians had arrived and deployed on the French left, causing the battle to swing 90 degrees. However the French were able to shore up this flank enough and combined musketry and artillery fire defeated the Austrian attack.

Combined with their losses on the other side of the field they were in no strange to continue and withdrew, only to find the French had manoeuvred across their line of retreat......game over.









I did this last year with my ACW figs using Mr Lincoln's War. Getting to game outside is very pleasant. The light is excellent and really lets the colours shine out in the pictures, just as former user's said.

the Daguerrotypie idea is magnificent, but then You should conceal the bases and add a bit of dirt and light inconsistency

It's a very simple app with no modification other than the colour and scratches.
I've not had a chance to play with the pics yet but I agree, hiding the bases would be an improvement.
