Okay guys, introduce me to the world of 6mm terrain...

So, like many others here I got in on the Robotech Kickstarter a few weeks back.  I'll be abandoning my hard-to-find/too-expensive 1/200 Robotech project and instead converting my efforts over to the 1/285th scale release from Palladium (I don't like their game from what I've seen).  So, my understanding is that 6mm is roughly 1/300 or so.

I haven't gamed in 6mm ever - unless you count old school Epic 40K about 15 years ago.  While I have a (likely more than) 6 month wait for the Robotech minis I'll be playtesting with my current crop of models and I'd like to start gathering terrain so I can get to gaming quicker when they show up.

I'll be looking for modern or near future buildings, civilian vehicles, some generic shuttle craft, bridges etc.  So...start posting links, as I have noooo clue who makes this stuff, and I trust the LA more than I trust google.     Everyone who participates will receive a free low-calorie nutrition crisp.

I've recently gotten into 6mm myself (I also used to play epic).

I'm just getting started with terrain.  I have a "dirty planet" game mat from Hotzmats that I used for my 28mm gaming too (thankfully I didn't get craters drawn on it).  So with that I'm going for an arid type planet setting.  I've picked up the badlands terrain from gale force 9:

I don't have any pictures taken, but this terrain seems to make more sense at 6mm than other scales.

Very cool.  I have a lot of the GF9 stuff which I plan on using in the later part of the Macross Saga (after Earth is blasted to near ruins).  I game heavily in the Old West so I have desert stuff relatively well covered.  I have some small trees I think will be suitable.  I'm really looking for buildings, bridges, other stuff.  I hope GF9 increases their badlands range.

I found 6mm terrain to be one of the easier scales to build things for, especially for sci-fi where you aren't constrained by right angles.  Just about any goofy shape can be turned into buildings with a few square pieces of cereal box painted blue for windows and black for doors.

There's a couple shots of mine made mostly from junk.  Electrical boxes, bottle caps, packaging, little plastic food bowls.  The tarmac is just spray painted cork tile.

Excellent stuff, thanks guys.  Some of it is a bit "too" sci-fi for my Robotech game (which is based around 1999-2009 or "near future").  Any railroad scales match up to 6mm or 1/285?

Yeah I dig the AB stuff - I've seen that before, but doesn't work too well with my game.  However, I might have to grab some infantry models to represent civilians or pilots of downed mecha etc.

I've been thinking about using N-scale stuff for Robotech. I'm going to wait until I have the new minis in hand  but I think they'll match up pretty well.

I want to build a small Japanese town so I'll be using buildings by Tomix and Greenmax. Not cheap but they should look a lot like Macross City.
