I made the first master mould today for the new cavalry units. There are photos of two I knocked together to see what they might look like. Adam has still to change arms and add belts, straps and extra armour to them before I can make the next mould. Production figures should be ready next week.

Well done, Keith, looks very promising, I'm so looking forward to them. And I'm really in need of a masked guy.

May we expect some dedicated, i.e. two piece mask helmets as well? Like the Straubing specimen we talked about?

Otherwise, I suppose the single mask-helmeted standard bearer will do for the meantime.

Re: Aventine's EIR range –first Aux. Cav packs(1.8.2013)

Just added them this afternoon. Two packs with a head variant option. Adam has crafted 6 different figures for the two packs, they have separate heads, shields, javelins and javelin quivers. Command nearly ready and we hope to add it on Monday.

The standard packs(Niederbieber)EIR83+84

Option helmet packs(Heddernheim)EIR83a+84a

The next unit will be a later version of the Equites Singulares suitable for well into the 3rd Century.

Cheers

Just added two packs of contarii(kontos armed heavy cavalry). They are all supplied with separate heads, the packs will come with Niederbiebers unless you request one of the others. Some of the more active poses are in two parts with the swords also separate(to allow them to be cast). The photos show them with cut down NS102 pikes. Command and unit deals next week if all goes well.

28mm in white metal and £9.00 for a pack of 3.
Cheers

Love the new heavy, (semi-)organic armour. Great to see these unusual (or rather non-accustomed) designs covered in your range. Bring on the mask helmets. :D

Adam has a second face mask completed and will do a third so we can produce a sprue of the three different helmets, this will be offered as an option on all the cavalry.

beautiful sculpts!

since it seems to be company policy to allow for some freedom on the customer side with searate heads and other parts, I would propose to leave the pikes uncut so that everyone can adjust the lengths of the kontos to the length they find appropriate.
Not only did this feature vary through times, to me personally the depicted ones appear way to short for this weapon.
