Bolt Action Brits
« on: June 26, 2013, 06:37:29 AM »
Hello everyone! Well, for my first post I figured I would show the beginning of my British Infantry force for Bolt Action. I have had these figures since Christmas, and finally got around to painting some:

The Bren gunner was the test model:

I then got three of his mates done:

I used a combination of Vallejo Model Color and Privateer Press P3 paints with Army Painter Dark Tone brushed on. Sorry for the bad pics, but my camera skills are sadly lacking.

Nice painting! Surprisingly those plastics are actually starting to grow on me. The weird o.t.t facial expressions have a bit of a Commando comic charm.

Awesome!  :) Just the other day I primed about 30 of these guys. I hope mine turn out as nice as yours did.

Well done! I will probably do my own plastic Brits (Canadians?) using your AP method!  :)

Thanks grant! The AP really makes painting these guys much faster and puts a nice protective coating on them.

I thought of painting these figures as Canadians as well. The grudge match between the Hitler Jugend and the Canadians would make for some fun wargaming.

I like them very much, just more temptation to fork out cash on some Army Painter though  ::)

Thank you LC!

I put together some of my Perry 8th army and started a test mini. I figured I would show a couple of work in progress shots, as I am waiting on the Army Painter to dry before finishing him. He took about 30 minutes to get this far:

Just after the AP was applied (Strong Tone this time):

Wow, well done!
When I first started building my Perry Desert Rats, I thought I would use the AP on them. I think yours looks better than mine, honestly.  :'(

Thanks grant! I look forward to seeing your lads  ;)  I was naughty and bought a Blitzkrieg Miniatures Matilda II today, can't wait til it gets here. I would be interested in what colors you used to base your cruiser tank.

I am using the force to NOT buy a Bren carrier section from the Perrys until I get more done on the minis I have now  lol . My wallet may not survive them releasing the DAK plastics anytime soon.

The base colour was Vallejo Airbrush primer - a 1:1 mix of IDF Israeli Sand and White. After a muddy brown-black wash, I brought the sand colour back up with Vallejo German Camo Beige and Sand Light, roughly 2:1.

Good luck!
