Big, Stoic orc/ogre
« on: 29 June 2013, 06:33:44 AM »
Looking for an orc who would in 32mm, a very big and broad fellow who will outsize his orc compatriots, with a sort of "strong, silent type" look to him. I'd prefer the less "GW"-ish orcs (with the huge oversized mouths). Preferably unarmed or wielding a big axe.

He doesn't say much. He just grunts and placidly throws enemies halfway across the map.

Mantic recently released an ogre warrior army boxed set and there's one fellow in the melee troops who would basically be completely perfect, the orgre with the axe over his shoulder here, front rank, centre:

...only I don't want to buy the whole boxed set just for that one ogre! So alternate suggestions would be appreciated.

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

They've got that itty bitty legs thing going on. I'd think ogres would have 'bigger feet'.

If you're really keen on the mantic ones I'm getting a whole army of them sent to me shortly. I think I could spare one but postage from nz to your part of the world probably wouldn't be worth the money for it. There were some orcs that I remember seeing once that might suit your taste though and they are metal if you'd prefer them like that.
Edit:
Here are some nice ones though that are quite big.
I had the first guy on this page and he was suitably large, probably about 40mm give or take.

Heresy's Big Boris (43mm to the top of his head) with an appropriate colour scheme for the skin (and possibly some putty tusky teeth)? £14.00 if you don't need the scenic base and definitely worth the money- it's a big mini:

You can look at the orcs of Confrotation: they have strange proportions but are considerably bigger than gw!

Btw: man, those mantic guys are doing better and better!

If you can wait, red box games just finished a kickstarter that has some really cool looking orcs as well.

Have you considered GAMEZONE minis?

At upper right corner you can choose language.

Metal, some in resin, but they are higly detailed and are BIG!

Hope that helps.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

£20 for big boris. Wwooowwwooouch!  :-X

Luckily, I still think the Mantic ones will fir the bill better. Most of the other minis have the regular sort of orky rage going one and the attitude/expression is pretty important to me. The orc's supposed to be one that other orcs think is big and dumb, but he just don't say much unless he has to and is actually sort of, uh, thoughtful  (lol).

beefcake, I'm open to seeing what postage will be from NZ. It might not be so bad as all that. If it's too much, I may buy the captain direct from Mantic, but I'd definitely prefer that grunt if possible (I can also try a bazaar post, as scurv mentioned). And the captain's £7.50 on his own so that's not really a super-deal or anything.

If you're getting the really big army box, then I think you'll get multiples of the grunts? Or are these multi-piece kits? I can't tell from the mantic site. If multi-peice, then I guess the parts required to build that particular ogre?

He's £6 cheaper without the scenic base.

I'm pretty sure they are multipart, I'll give you a pm when they arrive if you are still interested by then.
