Khurasan releases 16th century Irish
« on: June 29, 2013, 07:15:10 PM »
We are very pleased to release our latest 15mm historical range, the Renaissance Irish from the 16th century.

This period culminated in the cataclysmic Tyrone's Rebellion, which was a disaster first for the English and then for the Irish.  Only by great national effort was Elizabeth able to put down this rebellion, but once she did (the war actually ending under James's rule), all of Ireland fell under English rule for over 300 years.

Although these armies always contained traditional, essentially medieval elements such as light cavalry, lightly-armed native Irish infantry and heavily armoured Galloglaich axemen, later in the century these forces also contained pikemen and arquebusiers, many of whom had experience fighting in the Spanish armies on the continent.

The line is complete and contains the following:

Native Irish Warriors:

Native Irish Pikemen:

Native Irish Arquebusiers:

Native Irish or "Redshanks" Archers:

Irish Foot Command (Chieftain, Piper, Standardbearer and Galloglaich Leader):

Galloglaich in Chainmail:

Galloglaich in Aketon:

Redshanks or New Scots Mercenaries with Claymore:

Native Irish Armoured Horse:

Native Irish Unarmoured Horse:

Irish Mounted Command (king, standardbearer, and priest):

The shields on the armoured cavalry and the native Irish foot warriors are separate -- some of the shields have javelins cast on them. Pikes, cavalry spears and standard poles are separate and provided.

Sculpted and painted by "clibinarium." Available now, at the link below:

You know, I am so glad I got out of Ancients/Medievals/renaissance war games.   :o  Otherwise all my 25 mm figures would have to be sold for these 15 mm figures...   o_o    lol

Nice figures.    8)

Gracias,

Glenn
