Cheap 1/60 Japanese plastic building kits
« on: 02 July 2013, 01:24:17 PM »
Came across these whilst window shopping at Hobby Link. For the price, they look like they might be worth investigating.

Some of them look like they might have potential multi-period use.

They really look great. I wish someone would import them to the Eu though. (I'm no big fan of internet shopping)

Oh Wow! If you pick one up, I would like to see them scaled against other figures like 28mm and the like.

Some kits have assembled models as box art, you can find more if you research the Manufacturer "Kawai Shokai" with your favourite search engine (or by klicking this -> Link)

You would pay that much just for the included cherry trees here.

'Fraid not. Got to look in the box of one a couple of years ago and wasn't really impressed (I can be rather difficult to please though  ;D ).

Also, they are mainly for Meiji period usage so not much good for Sengoku at all.

cheers

James

Ans so speaketh the Japanese expert, which means that I shall not be bothering.....

Maybe once we have seen them out of the box we can judge for ourselves.

Anyone have any of the range?

Got them and they're sweet. Some of the textures don't appear on the pics from internet and won't be easy to paint since the details are really small (well at least not easy for me). Lots of elements here and there. I don't like the little trees but I know most of my buddies wouldn' t mind seeing them on the table.

Too bad some of the products are now unavailable but at least you can actually buy them on the contrary of some of the other stuff I see here and that you can't buy unless you know the secret magic password... ;)

Even with crazy import taxes, it was still cheaper than the Zenit stuff and much much better (smaller tho).

Ahh, the infamous plastic pile next to the lead-pile  lol

I have a polystyrol foam pile (builings I construct and never paint) for that.
