Les Miserables Barricade Scene

I am not sure if this is the right board to post this on, but I am going to be running a game at Historicon based on the barricades fight in Les Miserables.  I've posted some pictures on my blog:

The description in the PEL states:

"Singing ability is a plus but not required (just ask Russell Crowe)."

Actually, players will be permitted to to re-roll bad dice rolls if they sing a few bars of any Broadway show tune.

We've played in a few games that had song-based modifiers.
A relevant song usually gives a better modifier or gives a random effect - eg a chorus of " Raindrops are falling on my head" brings a sudden shower.

You will find singing easier without your tongue-in-cheek.  I think you should only allow re-rolls if people sing songs from Les Mis to keep it 'themed'.

Other songs from other musicals could invoke a random results table roll whereas songs from the various stagings would always adjust positively.  I can see dueling songs in the game... extra bonus for potential good singing (or intentional really "bad" singing) might be worth considering.

Strangely enough, the 1998 movie soundtrack by Basil Poledouris is one of the best ever...and has no singing. It even has a track called "The Barricades".

(I want that piano.)

The Marseillese might be ok. Also some of the old classics might trigger non-random events, eg Policeman's Lot (Gilbert & Sullivan) might bring Javert in as a spy, or might get Javert caught by the mob, depending on who sings it and how well.
