Paul Hicks Gladiators
« on: 08 July 2013, 07:26:26 AM »
I'm surprised no one did post them until now. I have discovered them some days ago on Paul Hicks Facebook page, apparently it's his recent work for Brigade Games. Nice ones, lovely feathers.
Hope they will do some spectators, too.

He is a very prodigious sculptor isn't he? :o

Oh, no!

Even more gladiators I will have to add to the pile of unpainted ones...

Yes, there are not too many things/themes out there which Paul actually didn’t do as yet.

Not only are they - as expected- beautiful- but they also seem as historically correct as possible.
Small rectangular shield on the Thraex, small round one on the Hoplomachus and so on. The Secutor and Provocator  look great too!

Now fervently hoping that Paul will do some variants on these and also the more exotic ones.. ;D

WOW!! Great find Professor. They are lovely alright. :-*

Some really great poses and yes those feathers are beautiful. Looks like I will be needing these.  :'(

Well, if you want to be picky, it does appear the Secutor is wearing two ocrea, but it's a little hard to tell.

Now those i'd buy!

Just a decent set of rules required ...

That could just do the trick. Reminds me of an old "play by phone" game 25+ yeas ago (how i didn't get collared i'll never know)

Best result was when one gladiator had both legs broken and t'other both arms. Something of a stalemate!!  lol

Nice - especially love that Secutor!  He's more dynamic than most other Secutor I've seen.  I already have more than enough gladiators, but I can see adding these fellows to the ludus, eventually.

The poses in general are all very good. I love Crusader's lot, but they do have some gladiators standing still, which looks a little odd in the arena. None of that here! I wonder what else is planned? No sign of a retiarius yet?

Lon doesn't nothing halfway usually so I'm actually quite sure this is still the beginning.
