Some really great poses and yes those feathers are beautiful. Looks like I will be needing these.  

Well, if you want to be picky, it does appear the Secutor is wearing two ocrea, but it's a little hard to tell.

Yes, you're right. He appears to be wearing 2 ocrea. Shoud be only the left one. However the figure is so nice and dynamic I might even overlook that or - sacrilege!- try to remove the right one.

As someone who is just beginning to collect (and hopefully paint) gladiators...yet someone who's been unimpressed with most of the available lines...these look great!  Consider me sold if he has a few more sets on the way.

Nice ones indeed, they're of the usual Hicks quality, I'd say. Equipment is well detailed and a lot more to scale than, say, Crusader or Foundry.
That said, I'm not that convinced by the poses. Certainly no fan of silly action moves, but these look like advancing soldiers rather than gladiators preparing for a duel. A bit more of a fencing stance (as captured by Crusader's) would have been nice.

I do tread the boards of LAF. There are more planned as I really enjoyed sculpting the Gladiators. As for release they should be out for Historicon later this month. Apart from that I have no idea on what I will be producing next there will be Retiarius. Just trying to think of ways to do the net.

I've always liked this retiarius' pose. I do believe his manica and galerus are on the wrong arm though. Many retiarii poses look more clumsy than agile.


Also while we have Paul, does anyone else think it would be a good idea to have some gladiators with some separate helms, for better variation?

I believe the net would be cast with the main (right) hand normally and the trident held in the off-hand (left) as depicted on the miniature. I do not believe he would cast his net with the armored arm and it also makes more sense to armor the trident arm, as he will be striking out with it. His typical stance would be as depicted in the figure, trident forward, net back ready to lash or be cast. When the net goes he quickly adopts a two-handed hold on the trident, but the left arm still leads - hence it should be the armored one.

A scaeva (south-paw) retiarius would wield his trident in his right hand me thinks.

In saying that all, if someone knows better, please explain it to me.
