Edward Judd, Martha Hyers, and Lionel Jeffries? Last time I looked, it was on streaming on Netflix.

Alas, have to get ready for days labours, or I'd join you.  lol

Will do later, though. Thanks for the reminder!

Doug

PS And thanks for getting me to look at IMDB (have a dueced of a time spelling 'Jeffries') and letting me know Auntie Beeb re-did. Shall have to hunt it down, as well.

Very enjoyable movie, but I have a tough time in the first 35 minutes or so, with Lionel Jeffries annoying me to no end.  A bit too too over-the-top English eccentric professor, a la Peter Cushing's performance in At the Earth's Core
Heresy to criticize Cushing (or Lionel Jeffries) for that matter?  Possibly; they were making light-hearted sci fi after all.

The BBC did a version about a year ago. It was very good and featured Martin Freeman, they really got the VSF style and atmosphere. however I don't think many people saw it as it was on BBC 4 and sadly either missed or badly received.

That's what I found on IMDB, save, I think you mean Mark Gatiss (Sherlock's Mycroft, instead of Watson); still trying to figure if Auntie put to disk...

Edit: Just saw the new one panned on IMDB; probably for the very reasons I'd enjoy seeing it. However, bad press oft equals no pressings.  :'(

Edit part deux: Seeing no discs for sale anywhere. Alas! Also, while I share Mr. Tarkas' bit-o-shudder at Cavor, no joy for the earlier film on Netflix streaming...
